Third win on the trot for Gzira United

Gzira United registered a third win on the trot as they defeated Lija Athletic 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Tuesday.

The Maroons had a perfect start, taking the lead on the 7th minute when off a cross from the left, Nikolai Muscat hit low past goalkeeper Luke Bonnici.

Gzira doubled the score on the 63rd minute when off a Ricardo Correa Duarte cross, Amadou Samb anticipated Bonnici to place the ball at the back of the net.

On the 70th minute, Gzira could have added another when they were awarded a penalty after Nikolai Muscat was brought down inside the area by Juan Cruz Gill but Jefferson de Assis hit high from the penalty spot.

Nikolai Muscat hit the upright on the 78th minute but two minutes later, Gzira were not to be denied as Amadou hit the upright with Ricardo Correa Duarte hitting home off the rebound.
