Rainbows hit five past ten-man Senglea Athletic

Tarxien Rainbows registered their first win as they beat Senglea Athletic 5-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

The Rainbows, therefore join Birkirkara and Lija Athletic on the four-point mark, leaving Sirens and Senglea Athletic at the bottom of the table with one points. Sirens, however, have played just three matches compared to the five or six played by the other teams.

Tarxien managed to take the lead on the half-hour when off a cross by Brandon Muscat, Vito Plut served Eduardo Rosado Souza whose conclusion was deflected by Nikola Terzin past goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia.

Vanger Conceicao hit the upright on the 21st and four minutes later, it was Jurgen Debono who hit the woodwork once again.

The Rainbows doubled the score on the 69th minute. Vito Plut sent Vanger Conceicao da Silva through and the latter was brought down by Matthew Farrugia inside the area; the goalkeeper first pushed Vanger Conceicao to earn a first yellow card and then pushed another to be sent off and from the penalty spot, Vanger Conceicao da Silva hit home past substitute goalkeeper Dorian Bugeja.

Ten minutes later, Tarxien made it 3-0 thanks to another goal by Vanger Conceicao da Silva who beat Bugeja with a shot from the right when served by Eduardo Rosado following an assist by Vito Plut.

On the 90th, Tarxien increased the lead when Alan Abela deflected a shot by Vito Plut from the left past the goalkeeper for an own goal.

Two minutes in added time, the Rainbows scored a fifth goal when off a cross by Brandon Muscat, Vito Plut failed to connect at first but then slotted the ball past Bugeja.
