Hamrun, Gzira share spoils in draw

Hamrun Spartans and Gzira United shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday in a clash between two teams who were aiming to re-join Hibernians on top the BOV Premier League table.

The Spartans have now gone three matches without a win while for Gzira, this was the sixth consecutive positive result

The Maroons took the lead on the 10th minute when off an assist by Raphael Kooh Sohna, Ricardo Calixto Correa managed to beat Jonathan Debono with an angled shot from the right. 

Hamrun equalised on the 34th minute when off a cross by Ailton Jorge dos Santos Soares from the left, Franklin Sasere flicked the ball past goalkeeper Anthony Curmi.

Gzira regained the lead a minute later thanks to Raphael Kooh Sohna who beat Debono from close range following a Hamed Kone freekick.

However five minutes from the end of the first half, Hamrun restored equilibrium thanks to Predrag Djordjevic whose rising shot gave the Gzira goalkeeper no chance following a cross by Ailton Soares.
