Friggieri, Satariano added to Malta squad

Malta coach Devis Mangia has added Sliema Wanderers forward Alex Satariano and Gudja United winger Aidan Friggieri to the Malta squad for the forthcoming friendly match against Liechtenstein on November 11.

Satariano, 19, and the 22-year-old Friggieri have thus earned their first senior call-up.

Balzan’s Samir Arab has been withdrawn from the squad as a precautionary measure after returning a borderline COVID-19 result. Arab will do another swab test in two days’ time.

Physical trainer Francesco Zanasi has also entered a period of self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.

In compliance with the Malta FA health protocols, all the players called up to the national squad and staff members did a nasopharyngeal test this morning ahead of the first training session this evening. The Malta squad will now remain in the ‘bubble’ until after the UEFA Nations League Group D1 match against the Faroe Islands on November 17 in line with the UEFA Return To Play Protocol.
