Balzan, Floriana share spoils in goalless draw

Balzan and Floriana shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday. A draw which satisfied neither side.

In fact, the Greens missed out on the chance to close in on joint-leaders Gzira United and Hibernians and now lie in sixth place, four points behind them. Balzan, on the other hand, have now gone four matches without a win and are alone in tenth place.

Floriana had an edge over their opponents but towards the end of the first half, Balzan almost took the lead when Stefan Dimic, served by Uros Ljubomirac from the right, had a fine attempt neutralised by Ini Etim Akpan into a corner.

In the second half, the Greens continued to hold the initiative and on the 90th, Ulises Arias almost notched the winner but was unlucky to hit the upright with a shot from the right.
