Sirens stun Hibernians to collect three precious points

Sirens earned three precious points as they defeated Hibernians 2-1 at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday.

A win which puts Sirens on level points with Zejtun Corinthians on 9 points with the Paolites staying on level points with Gzira United and one point ahead of Sliema Wanderers before the latter two take on Santa Lucia and Lija Athletic respectively.

Sirens took the lead on the 32nd minute thanks to Terence Agius whose corner from the left hit the upright with the ball ending at the back of the net.   

Leandro Almeida was unlucky to hit the crossbar with a header four minutes in the second half and on the 70th minute, Hibs were awarded a penalty after Thiago Espindola handled the ball inside the area but Jake Grech’s effort hit the foot of the upright.

The St. Paul’s Bay side doubled the score on the 76th minute when off a cross by Thiago Espindola from the left, Samba Tounkara slotted the ball past Calleja Cremona.

One minute in added time, Hibernians pulled one back when off a cross by substitute Edafe Uzeh, Karolis Laukzemis headed home past Montfort.
