Valletta, Floriana cross swords in must-win derby

Valletta and Floriana will both be all out to claim the three points on Sunday as they face each other in the derby at the National Stadium, kick-off at 14:00.

The BOV Premier League campaign has been far from impressive for both sides as they share the seventh place on 13 points, nine behind leaders Sliema Wanderers. The Greens, however, have a game in hand.

Valletta suffered a shock 1-3 defeat to Tarxien Rainbows in their last outing, winning just one game out of the last seven matches. Floriana, on the other hand, lost 0-2 to Mosta – their third defeat this season, after being held in a draw by Balzan in the previous game.

Making his return as coach for Valletta will be Gilbert Agius who was appointed interim coach following the resignation of Jesmond Zerafa.

Meanwhile in the second match, Birkirkara will be aiming for a third consecutive win as they face Senglea Athletic.

The Stripes are currently twelfth on ten points while Senglea lie at the bottom of the table with just two.

Birkirkara won three out of the last four matches while Senglea brought a negative run of six consecutive defeats to an end as they held Balzan in a 1-1 draw.

All matches are being played behind closed doors. but fans are able to watch games thanks to the live-streaming service being offered by the Malta Football Association at https://live.mfa.com.mt/ apart from the usual two weekly matches which are broadcast on TVM 2 and/or TSN.
