Gudja target third successive win to move top

Gudja United will be aiming for a third consecutive win on Saturday as they take on Sirens in one of the three BOV Premier League matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium. A win which would enable them to join leaders Hibernians on top the BOV Premier League table as they lie in fourth place, three points behind the Paolites.

Jesmond Zammit’s side won three out of the last five matches, including a 2-0 win over Senglea in their last outing, losing only to Birkirkara. Sirens, on the other hand, are joint-fourth from bottom on the 12-points. After collecting seven points in a draw with Valletta and important wins over Hibernians and Gzira, the St. Paul’s Bay side lost 0-2 to Santa Lucia earlier this week.

In the first match, Balzan take on Gzira United. A clash between two teams desperate for points. The Maroons won just out of the last five matches, suffering back-to-back defeats to Sirens and Hibernians in their last two outings. They lie in fifth place, five points behind the leaders. Balzan, on the other hand, failed to win any of their last seven matches, earning five points in draws.

In the last match, Lija Athletic face Mosta. Four wins from the last five matches and a draw with Valletta enabled the Blues to climb into the joint-fifth place together with Gzira. Lija, on the other hand, have now gone ten matches without a win, earning just two points in two draws. They lie second from bottom on five points. Lija could not count on the suspended Juan Cruz Gill, Gianluca Zammit and Fernando Javier Brandan.

All matches are being played behind closed doors. but fans are able to watch games thanks to the live-streaming service being offered by the Malta Football Association at https://live.mfa.com.mt/ apart from the usual two weekly matches which are broadcast on TVM 2 and/or TSN.
