Maroons return to winning ways

Gzira United returned to winning ways as they defeated Balzan 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday. A win which puts them, at least temporarily, in fourth place.

For Balzan, this was yet another disappointing result as the team led by Mark Miller has now gone eight matches without a win.

Gzira took the lead on the 26th minute thanks to a powerful shot which was deflected by a defender past goalkeeper Vukasin Vranes.

Sean Cipriott hit the crossbar five minutes from the end of the first half and eleven minutes in the second half, off a cross from the right by Davis, a flying header by Jefferson de Assis hit the bar once again.

The Maroons doubled the score on the 73rd minute when Ricardo Correa received the ball just outside the area and controlled before hitting low past goalkeeper Vukasin Vranes.
