BOV Challenge League: Mqabba hold Swieqi United in a draw

Swieqi United failed to keep the pace with Pembroke Athleta and Marsa in the BOV Challenge League as they were held in a draw by Mqabba in one of the matches in programme on Sunday.

At the Centenary Stadium, it was a goal five minutes in added time by Neil Falzon for Mqabba which cancelled Swieqi’s lead after Frank Temile had put them ahead on the 66th minute.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Zebbug Rangers registered a fine 4-1 win over St. Andrews. John Micallef put Zebbug ahead six minutes from the end of the first half but a Joseph Farrugia penalty levelled matters. Stanimir Miloskovic restored the lead on the 63rd and goals by Jonatan Silveira da Silva on the 82nd and Clive Gauci on the 88th sealed the issue for Zebbug.

Qrendi collected three precious points in a 2-1 win over Pieta’ Hotspurs at the Centenary Stadium. Jake Ghio put the Hotspurs ahead on the 15th minute but a brace by Daniel Mariano Bueno – a goal on the 31st and a penalty on the 71st handed Qrendi the three points.

Fgura United registered a fourth consecutive positive result as they beat Qormi 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Larson Mallia put Qormi ahead but Sergio Hili converted a penalty on the 35th to equalise and seven minutes later, managed to put Fgura ahead. Gilbert Martin made it 3-1 ten minutes from time.
