Sliema Wanderers regain top spot after narrow win in Old Firm derby

Sliema Wanderers regained the top spot in the BOV Premier League thanks to a narrow win over Floriana at the National Stadium on Sunday.

The Wanderers, in fact, move first on 25 points, two ahead of Hibernians and three ahead of Hamrun Spartans, who, however, have a game in hand. Floriana, on the other hand, are now eighth on 16 points but have two games in hand. For the Greens, this was the second defeat in three matches.

Sliema scored the all-important goal six minutes in the second half thanks to Juri Cisotti whose great freekick from the left beat Floriana custodian Ini Etim Akpan.
