Wanderers target win in bid to extend lead

Leaders Sliema Wanderers will be aiming for a win on Friday as they take on Tarxien Rainbows in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

The Blues lead the way with 25 points, two ahead of Hibernians and three ahead of Hamrun. They won three out of the last four matches, defeating Floriana 1-0 in their last outing. Tarxien, on the other hand, are third from bottom on 8 points. They suffered back-to-back defeats to Birkirkara and Mosta in their last two games.

Meanwhile in the first match, Valletta target the three points from the clash with Lija Athletic. The Citizens struggled to beat Zejtun Corinthians 2-1 and although Lija are currently second from bottom on six points, this will be no easy game. Valletta are currently joint-eighth on 17 points
