John Buttigieg takes over as new Floriana FC coach

Floriana FC have appointed John Buttigieg as their new coach following the of Vincenzo Potenza.

Buttigieg spent between 1991 and 1999 as a player with Floriana and later served as technical director of the Floriana nursery.

John Buttigieg had served as coach of Birkirkara FC between March 2007 and July 2009, when he was approached by the Malta Football Association to take over as national coach. His contract was terminated in October 2011. Buttigieg was then appointed to head the Birkirkara FC Academy. In 2014, he was appointed Technical Director of the Floriana FC Nursery. Buttigieg joined Sliema in summer 2016, leaving the club in January 2019. He then had a short spell at Birkirkara between April and September 2019.

Floriana FC are currently tenth in the BOV Premier League, winning just five out of the twelve matches played and losing four out of the last five matches.
