Futsal: Four teams maintain perfect start

Four teams maintained their perfect momentum as the second round of matches of the FMA National Futsal League was played at the National Sports School and De La Salle Pavillion.

Champions Luxol saw off University of Malta, beating them 9-1. Mark Zammit, Marwan Telisi and Everton netted two goals each. Leanderson, Raducu and an own goal completed the score for their team. Alexander Ellul scored a consolation goal for UoM.

Swieqi United registered the largest win of Match Day 2, defeating Qormi 12-2. Colombian striker Eduardo Garcia and Michael Borg netted a hat-trick, Robert Stoyanov and Karl Sciortino hit the target twice while Dylan Pace and an own-goal added to Swieqi’s tally. George Chircop put his name in the scoresheet after scoring twice. 

Valletta grabbed their second consecutive win as they found no difficulty in defeating Żurrieq 7-1. Nicola del Re, Claudio Venuto and George Frendo scored a brace as Zvezdan Vukovic netted another one for the Citizens. Żurrieq scored their only goal through Tyron Borg. 

Ta’ Xbiex Futsal confirmed their intention to vie for a place in the top positions of the table as they defeated Ibraġġ 5-1. After finding themselves 1-0 down through a goal scored by Jurgen Ciantar, Ta’ Xbiex managed to turn the tables through a Stefi Cale double, Dexter O’Brien, Glenn Bonello and Ryan Mifsud. 

Marsaskala claimed their first three points thanks to a 4-2 win over Naxxar Lions. The latter side gave a good account of themselves and were unlucky not to take at least a point from this match. Josef Balzan was inspirational for the Southseasiders as he netted a brace. Alessio Restuccia and Igor Pantelic scored the other goals while youngster Josef Azzopardi netted one of Naxxar’s goals.
