BOV Premier League resumes this week

The BOV Premier League will be back this week following a short break due to Christmas and the New Year. Six matches are in programme between Tuesday and Thursday as the matches involving Gudja United and Valletta had to be postponed after both teams had their squads ending in mandatory quarantine.

In Tuesday’s matches, Sirens take on Birkirkara and Balzan face Santa Lucia.

In the first match, Birkirkara could move fourth with a win as they hope to extend their positive run to eight matches. The Stripes moved sixth after winning five out of the last seven matches, defeating Floriana 5-2 in their last outing.

Sirens, on the other hand, aim at collecting precious points from this game as they sit in joint-tenth place with Floriana, five points behind Birkirkara. They lost just one out of the last six matches, holding Mosta in a 2-2 draw in their last outing.

Hamed Kone is set to make his debut for Sirens after joining the club from Gzira United.

Meanwhile in another match, Balzan will be all out to return to winning ways as they take on Santa Lucia.

Balzan have gone nine matches without a win, suffering back-to-back defeats to Gzira and Hibernians in their last two matches. They share the fourth place from bottom with Zejtun.

Santa Lucia, on the other hand, target a fourth consecutive win after three wins over Sirens, Senglea and Gudja enabled them to move joint-sixth with Birkirkara.

Making their debut for Balzan could be Milan Djuric and Aleksa Andrejic.

All matches are being played behind closed doors. but fans are able to watch games thanks to the live-streaming service being offered by the Malta Football Association at https://live.mfa.com.mt/ apart from the usual two weekly matches which are broadcast on TVM 2 and/or TSN.
