Tricky test for leaders Sliema

Sliema Wanderers, who share the top spot with Hamrun Spartans, will be facing a tricky test on Wednesday as they take on Mosta in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the Centenary Stadium.

The Wanderers enjoy a five-point lead over fifth-placed Mosta but while they lost three out of their last nine matches, Mosta are unbeaten in eight matches, dropping only six points in draws. Sliema are coming from back-to-back wins over Floriana and Tarxien while Mosta were held in a 2-2 draw by Sirens.

Mosta could not count on the suspended Clayton Failla.

Meanwhile Gzira United start as firm favourites to claim the three points as they take on Senglea Athletic.

The Maroons are currently joint-sixth on 22 points and a win on Wednesday could put them in fourth place. They won just one match out of their last five, being held in a draw by Birkirkara in their last outing.

Senglea, on the other hand, continue to chase their first win after losing ten out of the twelve matches played.

Both sides are expected to field new faces, in particular Maxuell Maia da Silva and Bahrudin Atajić for Gzira, Sergio Uyi and Freud Gnindokponou for Senglea.

All matches are being played behind closed doors. but fans are able to watch games thanks to the live-streaming service being offered by the Malta Football Association at https://live.mfa.com.mt/ apart from the usual two weekly matches which are broadcast on TVM 2 and/or TSN.
