Zejtun return to winning ways

Zejtun Corinthians moved fifth from bottom as they returned to winning ways thanks to a 3-1 win over Tarxien Rainbows at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday.

The Corinthians now lie seven points ahead of Tarxien who remain third from bottom but the latter have a game in hand.

Zejtun took the lead on the 23rd minute thanks to Kemar Reid who concluded a fine solo effort on the left with a fine shot from just inside the area to beat goalkeeper Daniel Fernandes.

Twelve minutes in the second half, Zejtun doubled the score thanks to Vitor Vieira who slotted the ball past the Tarxien goalkeeper following a cross by Kemar Reid from the right.

The Rainbows reduced the gap on the 78th minute when off a cross by Vito Plut from the right, substitute Kyle Gatt hit home past goalkeeper Christian Cassar.

Six minutes later, Erisa Ssekisambu was unlucky to hit the upright for Tarxien after a cross shot from the right was partially saved by the Zejtun goalkeeper.

However four minutes from time, Zejtun sealed the issue with a third goal thanks to Sergio Barboza da Silva Junior who received a cross by Kemar Reid from the right, hitting low past Fernandes.
