Santa Lucia hold Birkirkara in goalless draw

Santa Lucia earned another precious point as they held Birkirkara in a goalless draw at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

The Stripes extend their positive run to nine matches to join Gzira United in fifth place but the Maroons have a game in hand. Santa Lucia, on the other hand, registered a fifth consecutive positive result and remain seventh.

Soon after kick-off, Paul Mbong tested Christopher Farrugia with a powerful shot but the Santa Lucia custodian blocked his attempt.

Early in the second half, Victor Filho delivered a cross for Leandro Motta whose attempt was parried by Alessandro Guarnone and on the 53rd, Paul Mbong was unlucky to hit the crossbar from the edge of the area.
