Sirens return to winning ways as they edge past bottom-placed Senglea

Sirens returned to winning ways as a goal by Angel Manuel Bustos just past the hour handed them a narrow win over wooden-spoonists Senglea Athletic at the Centenary Stadium on Tuesday.

This was the first win for the St. Paul’s Bay side following the appointment of Giovanni Tedesco as their new coach. A win which puts them in tenth place on 19 points.

Senglea, on the other hand, remain anchored at the bottom of the table as they suffered a thirteenth defeat in fifteen matches.

Sirens scored the all-important goal on the 62nd minute thanks to Angel Manuel Bustos who headed the ball home off a corner from the right by Hamed Kone.

Ryan Scicluna was sent off for Sirens after receiving a second yellow card three minutes later.

Ten minutes from time, it was the turn of Angel Manuel Bustos to be sent off for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity.

However, in the dying minutes, Senglea had two players sent off. Andre Scicluna received a second yellow card for a foul on Domoraud on the 86th minute and four minutes in added time, Luis Carlos Riascos
