Rudger Scerri suspended with immediate effect

 

The Malta Football Association has taken cognizance of the criminal action  taken against Rudger Scerri, a member of the Attard FC committee who pleaded guilty on Wednesday to match-fixing charges before the Court of Magistrates. 

In a statement, the association said: “As a result, the Malta FA has suspended Mr Scerri from any football activity with immediate effect.”  

“The Association’s Integrity Department will be liaising with the Police in view of any further  disciplinary sanctions which may be taken by the competent adjudicating body of the Association  following further investigation in accordance with the regulations of the Association.”

Meanwhile Attard FC issued a statement in which they announced that the committee had voted unanimously to remove him from committee member. The club stressed that it was distancing itself from any actions concerning Mr. Scerri in his personal capacity and that they are currently cooperating with local authorities and the MFA regarding the matter.
