Seven Premier League players suspended

Seven Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Steve Pisani (Balzan), Emerson Marcelina (Hamrun), Tiago Adan Fonseca (Hibs), Ruslan Kisil (Sliema), Darren Falzon and Edison Bilbao Zarate (Tarxien), Lucas Moreira (Zejtun) were all banned for one match.

Emerson Marcelina will skip the big match on Wednesday against Valletta; Tiago Fonseca is ruled out of the clash with Gudja, Steve Pisani the match against Mosta, Ruslan Kisil the game against Santa Lucia, Falzon and Zarate the derby against Hibernians and Lucas Moreira the clash with Gudja.

Hamrun Spartans coach Mark Buttigieg and Mosta team manager Jason Vella were suspended for two matches while Lija Athletic team manager Colin Ciantar was banned for one match.

In the BOV Challenge League, Rodney Caruana (Qrendi) was banned for three matches while Clive Brincat (Marsaxlokk), Mark Fenech and Farid Romero Zuniga (Naxxar), Jonathan Bajada (Pembroke) and Alex Nilsson (Qrendi) were suspended for one match.

Mellieha coach Brian Bartolo and Zurrieq official George Caruana were suspended for four matches and three matches respectively in the BOV National Amateur League.
