National futsal team defeats foreign selection in friendly match

Towards the conclusion of yet another productive training stage for the Malta Futsal Squad, the first of three friendly encounters on Friday night saw the Malta team emerge winners narrowly beating the locally based foreigners 3-2.

Luxol stalwart Gia Nikvashvili broke the deadlock for the foreigners but his club mate Dylan Musu levelled matters soon after.

Captain Mark Zammit, who also plays for the domestic champions, put Malta ahead, also rounding off his brace with Malta’s third, before a consolation goal late on for the foreigners as Eduardo Garcia, who turns out for Swieqi Futsal, hit the ball home towards the end of the match.

The Malta Futsal Team is back in action for second match in this friendly tournament on Saturday evening against members of the shadow squad who will be vying to impress Head Coach Zeljko Anicic in their pursuit of regular national team call-ups.
