Senglea Athletic, Pembroke Athleta through to FA Trophy Round of 16

Senglea Athletic and Pembroke Athleta qualified for the Malta FA Trophy Round of 16 as they emerged as winners in the two matches from the Round of 32 on Wednesday.

At the Gozo Stadium, Dibola Diwoto Junior was the hero for Senglea Athletic as they defeated Gozitan champions Nadur Youngsters 3-2.

Diwoto Junior converted a penalty on the 16th minute but Nadur turned the score in their favour with a Marcelo Barbosa Junior penalty on the 35th and a goal by Ian Xuereb ffour minutes later. Three minutes in the second half, Dibola Diwoto Junior levelled matters and the same played notched the winner on the 63rd minute.

Rodolfo Soares was sent off for Nadur nine minutes from time.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Pembroke Athleta defeated Marsaxlokk 4-2 in a clash between two Challenge League sides.

Ryan Sammut handed Marsaxlokk the lead after just two minutes but Joseph JoJo Ogunuppe equalised on the 11th and Joao Pedro Oliveira Santos made it 2-1 ten minutes later. Miguel Ciantar made it 2-1 on the 57th and although Pablo Doffo reduced the gap thanks to a penalty on the 61st, Abdeen Temitope Abdul sealed the issue with a fourth goal on the 66th.
