Santa Lucia hit seven past Tarxien

Santa Lucia registered a most impressive 7-0 win over Tarxien Rainbows at the National Stadium on Saturday to move three points clear of Mosta and four ahead of Sirens.

For Santa Lucia, who had just eliminated Floriana from the FA Trophy, this was the first win after collecting five points from five draws out of the last six matches.

Tarxien, on the other hand, suffer their thirteenth defeat this season to remain third from bottom.

Santa Lucia took the lead on the 5th minute thanks to a great goal by Jamie Zerafa whose fine shot from the right beat goalkeeper Jurgen Borg.

On the 14th minute, Santa Lucia doubled the score courtesy of a Kevin Ante Rosero header off an Alan da Silva Souza corner from the left.

Towards the end of the first half, Alan da Silva was unlucky to hit the crossbar with a shot from outside the area.

Four minutes in the second half, Augusto Rene Caseres made it 3-0 with a powerful drive from outside the area which gave Jurgen Borg no chance.

One minute later, Kevin Ante Rosero concluded a good run on the right flank with an assist for Alan da Silva Souza who hit home from close range.

Santa Lucia made it 5-0 on the 56th minute when the Tarxien goalkeeper managed to block an Augusto Caseres effort from inside the area but Kevin Ante Rosero place the ball at the back of the net off the rebound.

A Nicholas Pulis powerful shot from outside the area which beat the Tarxien goalkeeper to put Santa Lucia six goals ahead.

One minute from time, Santa Lucia scored their seventh goal thanks to Kevin Ante Rosero who headed the ball home from close range after an Edafe Uzeh powerful drive was partially saved by Borg.
