BOV Amateur League: Msida, Siggiewi and Rabat reach play-offs

Msida St. Joseph, Siggiewi and Rabat Ajax joined Zurrieq, Marsaskala, Mellieha, Attard, Kirkop United and Xghajra Tornados in the BOV National Amateur League promotion play-offs as the last matches from Groups A and B were played on Sunday.

The Promotion Play-Offs will kick-off on February 23 with the preliminary round, the quarter-finals are scheduled for February 27, the semi-finals on March 3 and final on March 6. The draws will be held on Thursday.

In Group B, at the Sirens Stadium, Msida St. Joseph defeated Mtarfa 3-0 thanks to goals by Mark Camilleri on the 22nd, Ciro Quaranta on the 76th and Timothy Thomas on the 87th.

On the other hand, at the Luxol Stadium, goals by Jason Camilleri on the 3rd minute, Rene Duca on the 38th and a brace by Gilbert Camilleri on the 71st and 89th handed Siggiewi a 4-0 win over Zabbar St. Patrick.

In Group A at the Sirens Stadium, Mellieha and Ghaxaq shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, a penalty by Cleiton Jose Hinrichs for Mellieha on the 37th and an Ian Calleja penalty on the 65th for Ghaxaq.

At the Luxol Stadium, Marsaskala defeated Ta’ Xbiex 4-1. Goals by Adrian Bonavia on the 19th and Larken Friggieri on the 20th put Marsaskala two goals ahead. Jurgen Scirha pulled one back for Ta’ Xbiex on the 27th but Joseph Chetcuti restored a two-goal lead on the 52nd with Nicholas Zammit sealing the issue with another goal four minutes from time.

Meanwhile the Championship Play-Offs featuring group winners Mgarr United, Luqa St. Andrews and Melita will be played on February 27, March 2 and March 6. The draws will also be held on Thursday.
