BOV Challenge League: Pembroke, Marsa register wins

Pembroke Athleta and Marsa march on towards promotion thanks to wins in the BOV Challenge League on Monday.

Pembroke lead the way with 45 points followed by Marsa on 44 while Swieqi United lie on the 33 point mark and San Gwann on 31. Marsa and Swieqi have a game in hand.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Pembroke Athleta came from behind to beat neighbours Swieqi United 3-1. Ibrahim Salis put Swieqi ahead on the 12th minute but goals by Peter Paul Sammut on the 15th, Neil Frendo on the 24th and Abdeen Temitope Abdul on the 41st gave Thane Micallef’s side the three points.

At the Centenary Stadium, Lydon Micallef was in brilliant form as he scored five in a 5-1 win over Qormi. Micallef scored three during the first half on the 12th, 22nd and 38th, adding another two minutes in the second half. Ryoma Uriu pulled one back for Qormi on the 75th but Micallef added another on the 90th.
