Late Failla strike puts Mosta back on track

Mosta returned to winning ways as a goal by Clayton Failla three minutes in added time handed them a narrow win in the clash with Gudja United at the Centenary Stadium on Wednesday.

A win which pust Mosta on level points with Santa Lucia on 29 points in sixth place, leaving Gudja in tenth place on 24.

Gudja have now gone six matches without a win, collecting just one point in a draw in the process. They should consider themselves unlucky to leave Ta’ Qali empty-handed after creating their fair share of scoring opportunities, especially through Aidan Friggieri.

On the 19th minute, Johann Bezzina hit the foot of the upright for Mosta.

With the game heading for a draw, Clayton Failla notched the winner thanks to a direct freekick which gave goalkeeper Glenn Zammit no chance, ending in the top right corner.
