Sweden hit six past Austria

Sweden defeated Austria 6-1 in the second match from the VisitMalta Women’s Trophy at the Hibernians Stadium on Friday.

Linda Sembrant handed Sweden the lead on the 20th but Virginia Kirchberger equalised five minutes later. Fridolina Rolfo restored the lead on the 34th and three minutes later, Lina Hurtig made it 3-1. Just before the end of the first half, Filippa Angeldal added another to give Sweden a three-goal cushion.

Eleven minutes in the second half, Fridolina Rolfo increased the lead and on the 69th, they could have added another but Nathalie Bjorn’s penalty was neutralised by the Austrian goalkeeper. Sofia Jakobsson sealed the issue with a sixth goal nine minutes from time.

The tournament comes to an end with the last two matches on Tuesday. Malta faces Sweden at 14:30 while at 18:30, Austria meet neighbours Slovakia. Both matches will be played at the Hibernians Stadium.
