Msida, Zurrieq to contest National Amateur Cup final

Msida St. Joseph and Zurrieq will be contesting the final of the first edition of the National Amateur Cup after they defeated Siggiewi and Birzebbuga St. Peter’s respectively in the two semi-finals which were played on Saturday.

At the Sirens Stadium, Msida St. Joseph came from behind to beat Siggiewi 6-1.

Jacob Vincent Magri put Siggiewi ahead three minutes from the end of the first half but just before half-time, Timothy Thomas levelled matters. In the second half, Msida scored five without reply thanks to Christian Caruana on the 57th, another three goals by Timothy Thomas on the 64th, 77th and 84th and Lian Xuereb on the 74th.

At the Luxol Stadium, Zurrieq defeated Birzebbuga St. Peter’s 2-0 thanks to goals by Mauro Bonnici on the 21st and Erik Pietribiasi ten minutes from time.
