Wonder strikes hand Birkirkara the three points

Two great goals handed Birkirkara a 2-0 win over Floriana at the National Stadium on Saturday.

A win which strengthens the Stripes’ fourth place as they now lie four points ahead of Sliema while for Floriana, this defeat leaves them in tenth place, two points ahead of Gudja United and three ahead of Zejtun Corinthians.

Following a goalless first half, Paul Mbong put the Stripes ahead with a powerful drive from a distance of around thirty metres which gave goalkeeper Akpan no chance.

Three minutes in added time, Birkirkara scored the second goal courtesy of Luke Montebello who managed to beat Akpan with a long-distance shot from behind the half-way line which caught the goalkeeper slightly out of his place.
