FA Trophy: Gzira turn defeat into victory to secure quarter-final spot

Gzira United came back from two goals down as they defeated Tarxien Rainbows 4-2 after extra-time in a match from the Round of 16 of the Malta FA Trophy at the Centenary Stadium on Tuesday.

The Maroons, who had eliminated Mqabba with a most comfortable 8-0 score in the previous round, therefore secure a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Tarxien had a perfect start taking the lead thanks to a goal by Raphael Kooh Sohna after just two minutes and just before the end of the first half, Vito Plut doubled the score.

Bahrudin Atajic reduced the gap for the Maroons on the 71st minute and four minutes from time, Nikolai Muscat levelled matters to force extra-time,

In extra-time, Ricardo Calixto Correa Duarte put Gzira ahead for the first time on the 96th minute and three minutes later, Maxuell Maia da Silva sealed the issue with a fourth goal.
