FA Trophy: St. Andrews through to quarter-finals after penalty shoot-out

After eliminating Sliema Wanderers from the Round of 32, St. Andrews defeated Naxxar Lions 4-2 on penalties in the Round of 16 to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the Malta FA Trophy at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Tuesday.

With the score still goalless at the end of the ninety minutes, the match went into extra-time but with no goals being scored into extra-time, the penalty shoot-out had to decide the issue. The Saints scored four and Naxxar scored two, missing the other two.

Kemmu Degran Jackson, Luke Anthony Borg, Malcolm Vella Vidal and Karel Bituemi Mavanbu scored for St. Andrews. Ryan Cassar and Edson Cerqueira Farias scored Naxxar’s penalties with Dimitri Kassekar and Robinson Blandon missing their penalties.
