Luke Montebello scores two as Birkirkara defeat Tarxien

Luke Montebello scored twice for Birkirkara as the Stripes scored three in the second half to beat Tarxien Rainbows 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Birkirkara, therefore, maintain the challenge for a spot in the UEFA competitions this summer. This was the sixth win in eight matches for the Stripes. Tarxien, on the other hand, remain third from bottom on 21 points after claiming back-to-back wins over Senglea and Gudja in the previous two matches.

Two minutes in the second half, Birkirkara took the lead thanks to Luke Montebello who received the ball off an erratic clearance and hit low past goalkeeper Daniel Fernandes.

The Stripes doubled the score on the 68th minute, courtesy of substitute Federico Falcone, who hit home from close range following an assist by Caio Prado.

Seven minutes later, Luke Montebello made it 3-0 when he received a cross by Paul Mbong and hit past the Tarxien goalkeeper.
