Ghajnsielem move six points clear

Leaders Ghajnsielem moved six points clear in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division following a 6-1 win over Oratory Youths.

Sebastien Martinez Turizo put the Blacks ahead on the 33rd and Rodney Buttigieg doubled the score four minutes later. Martinez Turizo increased the lead nine minutes in the second half and seven minutes alter, Jhon Arboleda Valencia made it 4-0. Dejan Bogdanovic scored a fifth goal on the 70th and although Rafael Rodrigues Ledesma pulled one back thanks to a Rafael Rodrigues Ledesma penalty on the 83rd, Kurt Grima made it 6-1 on the 90th.

Victoria Hotspurs joined Nadur Youngsters in second place thanks to a 3-1 win over Sannat Lions. Nadur, however, have a game in hand. A Shaun Attard brace on the 27th and 37th put the Hotspurs two goals ahead. Brandon Said pulled one back on the 57th but Paulo Santos de Azevedo sealed the issue with a third goal on the 70th.

SK Victoria Wanderers returned to winning ways as they defeated Kercem Ajax 3-1. Aud-Gustine James Obaje handed the Wanderers the lead on the 36th and Gabriel Cardona scored twice on the 78th and 83rd to put them three goals ahead with Samuel Saldanha reducing the gap two minutes from time

Xaghra United registered their first win as they beat Xewkija Tigers 3-1. Xewkija took the lead thanks to a goal by Jake Saliba on the 5th minute but goals by Etienne Xiberras on the 29th, Savio Galea on the 44th and Filipe Rodrigues de Souza Santos on the 73rd handed Xaghra the three points.

Meanwhile in a match from the GFA Cup, Ghajnsielem reached the quarter-finals thanks to a 4-3 win over Victoria Hotspurs.

Ismael Belhadj and Jhon Arboleda Valencia put Ghajnsielem two goals ahead with goal on the 22nd and 43rd but just before the end of the first half, Paulo Santos de Azevedo reduced the gap for the Hotspurs. Goals by Alberto Xuereb on the 52nd and Ismael Belhadj on the 68th increased the lead for Ghajnsielem but Shaun Attard on the 77th and Henrique Maciel on the 89th reduced the arrears.

In the qualifying stage of the Second Division Knock-Out, Ebube Ralph Okpokwu notched a hat-trick as Qala Saints defeated St. Lawrence Spurs 3-0 with a penalty on the 13th and goals on the 50th and 85th

On the other hand, Ayesller Carvalho was the hero for Munxar with a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Gharb Rangers. Carvalho scored on the 8th and 35th and although Milos Stojanovic reduced the gap on the 43rd, Roberto Sammut restored a two-goal lead on the 77th with Carvalho adding another two minutes from time.
