The Football Federation of Kosovo announced that following the decision by the government of Kazakhstan not to allow the national team to travel to Pristina, the match was called off and therefore, Kosovo will be facing Malta in a friendly match in Austria.

Malta and Kosovo, who are currently ranked 120th, met twice in 2018. Kosovo won 3-1 in Pristina and went on to register an impressive 5-0 win at Ta’ Qali.

Last March, after defeating Lithuania 4-0 in a friendly match, Kosovo suffered a 0-3 defeat at home to Sweden and 3-1 to Spain in Seville.

These friendly matches for Malta are part of the team’s preparation ahead of the three European Qualifiers in programme in September against Cyprus at Ta’ Qali on September 1 before two away matches against Slovenia and Russia on September 4 and 7 respectively.
