Gzira United signed Brazilian left back Thiago Espíndola de Paula. Thiaguinho signed a one-year deal with the Maroons.

Twenty eight year old Espindola de Paula played for Tupi FC, Anapolis and Rio Branco EC in Brazil before moving to Malta to join Hamrun Spartans in 2017. He spent one year with the Spartans. He moved back to Brazil where he had a short spell with EC Tigres but returned to Malta in summer 2019 to sign for Sirens where he spent the last two years.

Thiaguinho is the fourth signing for the Maroons following Clive Gauci, Luke Tabone and Kurt Desira.
