Under-21 side off to Slovenia on Thursday for training camp

New Malta Under-21 coach Gilbert Agius has selected 25 players for the two friendly matches against Qatar Under 23 Olympic team on Sunday 30th May and Bosnia-Herzegovina five days later.

The games will be played during a twelve-day training camp in Slovenia, that will provide the Under-21 head coach with an opportunity to take a closer look at his players who have the potential to be part of the Malta Under-21 team for the upcoming 2023 UEFA European U21 Group C qualifying campaign.

Spain, Russia, Slovakia, Northern Ireland and Lithuania are the other teams in Malta’s Group, which competition starts off in September.

A squad that includes a significant number of newcomers, all ready to embrace this first experience representing their country at this level, with the most experienced players being Ayrton Attard of Hibernians and Marcus Grima of Balzan.

The Malta Under-21 squad will depart for Slovenia on Thursday.
