Floriana FC appoint Gianluca Atzori as their new coach

Floriana FC have appointed Italian coach Gianluca Atzori as their new coach.

A former player of Ternana, Perugia, Reggina, Ravenna, Empoli and Palermo, Atzori stated his coaching career at Parma as assistant coach with Silvio Baldini. He later served as assistant coach at Lecce and Catania with Baldini. Atzori’s first appointment as head coach was at Ravenna. Later, he coached Catania, Reggina, Sampdoria, Spezia, Siena and following another two spells at Reggina, he led Pistoiese, Pro Vercelli and Imolese.

In a statement, the club said it was launching an ambitious technical project towards a common football philosophy across all Floriana FC squads. A professional setup will be under the guidance of Sporting Director Nereo Omero, who coordinated similar projects at AC Milan and Brescia Calcio.

Carlo Simionato and Darren Vella will be his assistant coaches, focusing mainly on athletic preparation and match analysis respectively. Vella will also serve as coach of the Youth team.

Anthony Gafa was confirmed as team manager.
