Hamrun Spartans register first win

Hamrun Spartans collected their first three points as they came from behind to beat Mosta 2-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday. 

Mosta, on the other hand, suffered a second defeat in three matches, after holding Sirens in a draw in the previous outing.

The Blues had goalkeeper Marko Jovicic, Mehdi Hetemaj, Ayonfe Sunday Akinbule and Roderick Briffa making their debut. Malta international midfielder Luke Gambin and Isaac Ntow were, on the other hand, making their first appearance for the Spartans.

Mosta took the lead courtesy of an own goal by Karl Micallef on the 12th minute as his back pass was not held by goalkeeper Henry Bonello.

However a minute later, Luke Gambin restored equilibrium as he beat Jovicic with a shot from the edge of the area.

Hamrun notched the winner on the 64th when they were awarded a penalty when Ailton Jorge Soares was adjugded to have been fouled by Jonas Rodriguez Ekani and from the penalty spot, the same player converted.
