Difficult Floriana test for Birkirkara

Birkirkara will be hoping to maintain their perfect start as they take on Floriana in one of the three BOV Premier League matches in programme on Sunday. Champions Hamrun Spartans face Balzan while Sliema Wanderers meet Gudja United.

In the first match at the National Stadium, kick-off at 17:00, Birkirkara take on Floriana.

The Stripes claimed maximum points from the first three matches, defeating Mosta 3-0, Hamrun Spartans 2-1 and Balzan 2-1 and following a 3-2 win for Hibernians over Mosta on Saturday, the Stripes need the three points from this clash to re-join the Paolites on top. However this will be no easy job considering that Floriana are coming from an impressive 3-0 win over Valletta after two draws with Santa Lucia and Sliema Wanderers.

At the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 19:00, Sliema Wanderers take on Gudja United.

Two teams who are chasing their first win. The Wanderers lost 0-1 to Balzan but then held Floriana and Gzira United in draws. Gudja, on the other hand, lost to Sirens and Hibernians in their first two matches, earning a point in a 2-2 draw with Santa Lucia last week.

At the National Stadium, kick-off at 21:00, Hamrun Spartans face Balzan.

The Spartans claimed their first points in a 2-1 win over Mosta after losing to Valletta and Birkirkara in their first two matches. Balzan, on the other hand, defeated Sliema in their first match, losing to Valletta and Birkirkara in their last two games.

Malta international goalkeeper Jake Galea could make his debut for Balzan after joining the club earlier this week.
