Sirens return to winning ways

Sirens returned to winning ways as they defeated Santa Lucia 3-1 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.

The St. Paul’s Bay side therefore bounced back from the 1-3 defeat to Hibernians to register their second win in four matches. Santa Lucia, on the other hand, suffer their first defeat after three draws in their first three matches.

Vitor Vieira put Sirens ahead on the 10th minute, heading the ball home off a cross by Fernando Brandan from the left.

Sirens doubled the score on the 59th minute when Alfred Effiong received a cross by Diego Albanese and slotted the ball home past goalkeeeper Julani Archibald.

Santa Lucia pulled one back on the 85th minute thanks to Andre Prates Rodrigues who headed the ball home off an Alan da Silva Souza freekick.

However four minutes in added time, Kemar Reid made it 3-1, heading the ball home when served by Kemmu Degran Jackson.
