BOV Challenge League: Marsa held in a draw by Luqa

Pembroke Athleta and Pieta’ Hotspurs both registered their second win in the BOV Challenge League but Marsa dropped two points in a draw with Luqa St. Andrew’s on Sunday.

In Group A, Pembroke Athleta defeated Melita 4-1 at the Centenary Stadium.

Jurgen Suda converted a penalty on the 11th minute and three minutes later, Stefan Jankovic doubled the score. James Brincat made it 3-0 five minutes from the end of the first half. Eleven minutes in the second half, Camilo Andres Babilonia pulled one back for Melita but four minutes in added time, Weverton Gomes sealed the issue for Pembroke.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Mqabba defeated Vittoriosa Stars 2-1.

Leonard Farrugia put Mqabba ahead just before the end of the first half and although Hugo Santa Rosa Cruz equalised on the 76th, a minute later, Ryan Spiteri notched the winner for Mqabba.

In Group B, Pieta’ Hotspurs beat St. Andrews 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium. 

Yuto Morita converted a penalty on the 3rd minute and James Scicluna doubled the score on the 40th. Joseph Farrugia pulled one back on the 44th but Brooklyn Borg made it 3-1 on the 73rd.

On the other hand, at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Marsa rescued a point in a 1-1 draw with Luqa St. Andrew’s.

Chubuzor Lucky Nwaogu put Luqa ahead on the 35th but Amadou Samb converted a penalty on the 63rd to level matters.
