Birkirkara target win to move top

Birkirkara will be aiming for a win over Gzira United in order to re-join Hibernians on top while Mosta and Sliema Wanderers continue to chase their first win as they take on Sirens and Balzan respectively as another three BOV Premier League matches are in programme on Sunday.

In the first match at the National Stadium, kick-off at 17:00, Gzira United face Birkirkara.

A win would enable Birkirkara to join Hibernians on top the BOV Premier League table after they dropped their first points in a draw with Floriana last week. The Maroons, on the other hand, are currently ninth on five points after a defeat to Hibernians, two draws with Santa Lucia and Sliema and a 2-0 win over Valletta.

At the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 19:00, Sirens take on Sliema Wanderers.

The St. Paul’s Bay side share third place with Gudja after obtaining seven points in wins over Gudja and Santa Lucia and a draw with Mosta, losing to Hibernians. The Wanderers, on the other hand, collected just two points in draws with Floriana and Gzira, losing to Balzan and Gudja.

At the National Stadium, kick-off at 21:00, Mosta face Balzan.

Lying at the bottom of the table with just one point in a draw with Sirens, losing the other three matches to Birkirkara, Hamrun and Hibernians, the Blues are desperate for points. Balzan, on the other hand, are coming from a narrow win over Hamrun Spartans – their second win so far – after back to back defeats to Valletta and Birkirkara.
