Nadur, Ghajnsielem march on

Nadur Youngsters and Ghajnsielem maintained their unbeaten record in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division as they both registered wins.

On Monday, Nadur found no difficulty in beating Oratory Youths 5-0. Judivan Flor da Silva opened the score on the 28th and a minute later, Marcelo Barbosa Junior made it 2-0 with Stefan Cassar scoring a third goal just before the end of the first half. In the second half, Barbosa scored twice on the 63rd and 65th to seal the issue.

On Friday, Ghajnsielem beat Victoria Hotspurs 3-0 thanks to goals by Kevin Farrugia on the 45th, Kurt Grima on the 48th and Johnny Camilleri on the 83rd.

Kercem Ajax kept the pace with the leaders with a 6-4 win over Xewkija Tigers in a ten-goal thriller on Saturday.

Joseph George Vella and Rafael Rodolfo da Silveira handed Xewkija a two-goal lead with goals on the 7th and 22nd respectively but goals by Euller da Silva Rodrigues on the 31st and Joshua Buttigieg on the 39th levelled matters. Kercem forged ahead on the 58th thanks to Jean Paul Mizzi and Wesley Simeao dos Santos made it 4-2 on the 63rd. However a Joseph George Vella penalty on the 66th and a goal by Joel Xuereb on the 68th restored equilibrium. Euller da Silva Rodrigues put Kercem 5-4 ahead on the 70th and Jean Paul Mizzi sealed the issue with another goal on the 84th.

In another match on Sunday, a goal by Lucas Silva Gomes six minutes in the second half handed Sannat Lions their first win as they beat SK Victoria Wanderers.

Nadur and Ghajnsielem lead the way with 13 points, followed by Kercem on 12, Xewkija 7, Sannat 5, Victoria Hotspurs 4, Oratory 3 and SK Victoria Wanderers 0.
