After losing four out of their first six matches, champions Hamrun Spartans will be all out to claim the three points on Saturday as they take on Gudja United in one of the three BOV Premier League matches in programme at the Tony Bezzina Stadium and the Centenary Stadium.
In fact, in the first match at the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 15:00, Hamrun face Gudja.
One point separates the two teams with Gudja lying one point ahead of the Spartans. Gudja lost 0-2 to Birkirkara in their last outing after a fine 2-0 win over Valletta before the international break. Hamrun, on the other hand, lost narrowly to Gzira United last week.
Igor Dudarev is ruled out for Gudja as he serves a one-match ban.
At the Tony Bezzina Stadium, kick-off at 19:00, Mosta take on Floriana.
The Greens share third place with Gzira and Valletta on 9 points, seven behind leaders Hibernians and five behind Birkirkara. They returned to winning ways last week thanks to a 2-1 win over Balzan following a draw with Birkirkara and a defeat to Hamrun. Mosta, on the other hand, are joint-second from bottom with just five points. However they earned four points from their last two matches, defeating Balzan 2-1 and sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw with Santa Lucia last week.
Floriana could not count on the suspended Kristian Keqi.
At the Centenary Stadium, kick-off at 20:00, Gzira United face Balzan.
With two wins from the last three matches against Valletta and Hamrun Spartans respectively, extending their positive run to five matches, the Maroons moved joint-third with Floriana and Valletta and now aim for another three points on Saturday to close in on the top two. Balzan, on the other hand, suffered back-to-back 1-2 defeats to Mosta and Floriana which led to the resignation of coach Mark Miller. Losing four out of the six matches played, Balzan share the eighth place with Hamrun on six points.
Augustine Loof is ruled out through suspension for Balzan.
