BOV Challenge League: Tarxien move top in Group B as Marsa lose to Pieta’

Tarxien Rainbows moved top in Group B of the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Mgarr United 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Saturday Nanapere put the Rainbows ahead on the 7th minute and two minutes later, Darren Falzon doubled the score. Ricardo Silva Faria made it 3-0 on the 76th but Santiago Gabriel Achaval pulled one back three minutes from time.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, a goal by Teppei Iida on the 7th minute and a Neverton Inacio Dionizio penalty handed Pieta’ Hotspurs a 2-0 win over Marsa.

Tarxien lead the way with 12 points, followed by Marsa on 11, Fgura, Pieta’ and Zebbug on 10, Swieqi 9, Qrendi 7, Luqa and Mgarr 6, St. Andrews and Senglea 3.

Meanwhile in Group A, Marsaxlokk defeated St. George’s 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium.

Xuan Cappellino put Marsaxlokk ahead on the 6th minute. Walter Omar Serrano doubled the score on the 83rd and three minutes later, Peter Paul Sammut made it 3-0. Kouta Suemitsu reduced the gap for the Cospicua side one minute from time.

The other match between Lija Athletic and Rabat Ajax was postponed.

Naxxar lead the way with 18 points, followed by Pembroke on 13, Zejtun and Melita 11, Marsaxlokk 7, San Gwann and Vittoriosa 6, Rabat 5, Lija and Mqabba 4 and St. George’s 1.
