Floriana edge past Gudja United

An own goal early in the second half handed Floriana a narrow win over Gudja United at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.

A win which puts the Greens in second place, two points behind Hibernians and one ahead of Birkirkara but the latter two have a game in hand. This was the third win in four matches for Gianluca Atzori’s side.

Gudja, on the other hand, are now joint-second from bottom as Sliema joined them on the seven-point mark, one ahead of bottom-placed Santa Lucia. For Gudja, this was the fourth consecutive defeat.

The Greens scored the all-important goal eight minutes in the second half when Ryan Camenzuli’s cross from the left was deflected by substitute Neil Micallef past goalkeeper Glenn Zammit.
