BOV Challenge League: Pieta’ Hotspurs join Zebbug on top in Group B

Pieta’ Hotspurs joined Zebbug Rangers on top of Group B of the BOV Challenge League after defeating Mgarr United 3-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Tuesday.

The match was originally scheduled for October 25 but was interrupted at half-time due to inclement weather with the score still 0-0.

When the game was resumed on Tuesday, Yuto Morita put the Hotspurs ahead on the hour. James Scicluna doubled the score five minutes later and Neverton Inacio Dionizio sealed the issue with a third goal thirteen minutes from time.

Pieta’ and Zebbug lead the way with 13 points, followed by Tarxien on 12 points, Marsa on 11, Fgura on 10, Swieqi 9, Qrendi 7, Luqa, Mgarr and Senglea 6, St. Andrews 3.

Meanwhile in Group A, Pembroke Athleta closed in on Naxxar Lions thanks to a narrow win over Marsaxlokk at the Centenary Stadium.

Erikys Ferreira scored the all-important goal on the 22nd minute

Naxxar lead the way with 21 points, followed by Pembroke on 16, Zejtun and Melita 11, Marsaxlokk 7, San Gwann and Vittoriosa 6, Rabat 5, Lija and Mqabba 4 and St. George’s 1.
