Futsal: University move top

University of Malta joined Luxol St Andrews and Ta’ Xbiex at the top of the Enemed Futsal League table after winning a delicate encounter against St Georges 5-3.

This was the fourth consecutive win for Nicola del Re’s troops against a St. Georges side always in the game till the last second. Dale Valletta stole the show for University of Malta as he scored a hat-trick while Jean Noel Azzopardi hit the target twice. St Georges replied through goals by Charvon Gatt, Matthew Scicluna and an own goal.

Luxol registered a massive 17-1 victory over Qormi Futsal to keep their perfect track during this season. Their captain Mark Zammit scored five goals while Andy Mangion hit the target three times. On the other hand, Marwan Telisi, Carl Azzopardi and Maicon helped themselves with a brace while Matthew Attard, Dylan Musu and Veve also put their names on the score sheet. Ayrton Duncan scored Qormi’s consolation goal.

Valletta registered a 6-0 victory over Naxxar Lions to grab their third consecutive victory. The Citizens had complete control of the match as Aaron Montebello and Luke Gatt scored a brace while Zvezdan Vukovic and Michael Borg also found the back of the net.

Marsaskala and Żurrieq shared the spoils in an entertaining 4-4 draw. Żurrieq estabilished a four-goal advantage before the interval but the second half was a different story as Marsaskala managed to restore parity with four quickfire goals. As Nicholas Bezzina, Charlot Mamo, Alexei Saliba and Dylan Darmanin were on target for Żurrieq, Marsaskala’s Alessio Restuccia came to the fore as he notched a hat-trick with Gianluca Lo Giudice also on target.
