Early goal paves the way for Hamrun Spartans

Hamrun Spartans bounced back from the defeat to Hibernians as they defeated Santa Lucia 3-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.

The Spartans therefore move back with the top six as they leapfrog Gzira United and Sirens and now lie on the 15-point mark. Santa Lucia, on the other hand, remain third from bottom on nine points.

Hamrun took the lead on the 3rd minute when off a corner by Arthur Oyama from the right, Darko Gojkovic slammed the ball home past goalkeeper Julani Archibald.

On the 27th minute, the Spartans doubled the score when Joseph Mbong concluded a fine move with an assist for Luke Gambin whose diagonal shot from the right beat the Santa Lucia goalkeeper.

Hamrun sealed the issue on the 66th minute when they were awarded a penalty after Soufiane Lagzir was brought down inside the area by Alan da Souza Silva and from the penalty spot, Lagzir made no mistake.
